Natrona Court System & Jurisdictions
Natrona County has two main general jurisdiction courts — both are part of the 7th Judicial District of Wyoming.
District Court handles the most serious categories of cases:
- Criminal cases for felonies
- Civil lawsuits without monetary limits
- Probate cases (the judicial process of distributing property after death)
- Establishment of paternity
- Guardianship and custody cases
- Adoption (confidential)
- Juvenile cases (confidential)

Circuit Court in Casper handles a different range of cases — minor criminal offenses (misdemeanors), traffic violations, small claims, and preliminary hearings in criminal cases. The Clerk is Heather Eastin. Contact information and the court's address can be found on the Wyoming Judicial Branch website.
Separately, the state operates a Chancery Court, which specializes in corporate and commercial law cases. Documents from this court are available for free viewing on special terminals in court buildings.
To determine which court to search for a specific case, pay attention to the type of case. Speeding fines — Circuit Court. Divorce or probate case — District Court.

How to Get a Copy of a Natrona Court Document
Copies of court documents are issued by the office of the court where the case is registered. There are two types of copies:
- Uncertified copy — a printout or photocopy of the document without official certification. Suitable for review.
- Certified copy — has the court's seal and the clerk's signature. Required for submission to other courts, government agencies, or for legal actions.
Channels for obtaining:
- In person — contact the Clerk of District Court at 115 N. Center, Room 100, Casper, WY 82601. You will need the case number or the full name of the party.
- By mail — send a written request with case details and payment to the address:
- Electronic filing — the eFiling Wyoming Judicial Branch system allows electronic document submission, but obtaining copies usually requires contacting the office.
For records stored by the County Clerk's office (land documents, registration records), search is available through iDoc Market. Land records cover the period from June 1994, and historical records from 1887. Data on iDoc Market is not an official record and cannot be used as a basis for legal actions.
